Hebron Community's pastor, Eric Champion, has not lived the typical pastor's life. He didn't grow up in stable home with a church community, or feel the early call of God on his life. He did not marry his high school sweetheart or follow what anyone would consider a "traditional" path.
Eric's story is a little different.
He came to a life of faith as an adult midstream of building a life focused on a variety of things that weren't healthy or productive.
Uneducated in Bible stories, orthodoxy, or doctrine, Eric learned about God's Grace and loving desire to change the lives of every believer. After a few years growth in community by listening to sermons, receiving subtle mentorship, and small group study, Eric realized God's plan for him. It was then that Eric approached the elder host of his small group and said, "God has given me a sermon." This is funny to those who knew the him when, because he was no Pastor then.
Daralee, Eric's faithful wife, received two romantic warnings from her mother, "Don't marry an artist or a preacher." Daralee, dismissed the first, when she married Eric, then a graphic designer. A year after the fateful "God has given me a sermon" conversation, Eric asked Daralee if she could be a preacher's wife. Inside ten years of marriage, Eric's mother-in-law's greatest fears came true and he became the full-time Senior Pastor of Hebron Community Church.
Eric preaches the truth of God in an exciting and relational conversation with the Church. He follows the call to lead others to live lives that influence the world for God.
Eric currently attends Dallas Theological Seminary. Daralee teaches preschool and cares for their daughters Emily (8) and Elli (6).
